Single Ended Toroidal Output Transformersinductors

Extensive research and development over a three year period was conducted by Plitron and Menno Vanderveen into the application of toroidal technology for single ended output transformers. This included development of new toroidal cores, resulting in transformers exhibiting constant and linear magnetic behavior and tolerance to current and voltage changes. Innovative winding and constructional techniques were also developed. The result provides significant performance advantages: clear, high frequency behavior, the result of critical damping, controlled high frequency roll-off and phase coherence; clean, solid bass response due to the large and constant factored primary inductance; neutral and uncolored midband, due in part to the carefully controlled magnetics inherent in toroidal construction; undistorted sound rich in details and vivid in spatial response.  Short form specifications are shown below. Specialist Range Toroidal Output Transformers

This range includes output transformers for the following circuit topologies: separate screen grid winding techniques (SSCR); cathode feedback windings (CFB); and unity coupling.  New Techniques of applying local feedback are used to increase the damping factor, instead of using overall negative feedback. These techniques meet the increased demands of new digital audio developments for extending high frequency response in the digital versatile disc (DVD).
