"I heated my soldering iron and put my custom 300B SET on the operating table, and in about fifteen minutes my normal output transformer was disconnected and the new Plitron unit rigged. The other amp stayed stock. My comparison was made with the KR 300BXL tubes. After only listening for 30 minutes my initial impression is that Menno and Plitron have been very successful and.... the transformer hadn't yet aged, and I certainly didn't experiment to find its sweet spot. "Now that my VDV-3070 has been playing for over 50 hours, I share with you my listening impressions.
The sound is extremely detailed and transparent. On most of the CDs I listened to so far, I hear sounds I have never heard before. I hear distinctly the breath of singers and the sounds produced by their lips and tongue on quiet passages. The mouth sounds of musicians blowing in their saxophones and trumpets. And the action of the sustain pedal of pianos when they release, the sound of hammers hitting the strings of pianos. In other words, I FEEL the music. It is just like being there, with the artists. This is something I have never experienced before. This is divine.
The timbre is magnificent, the accuracy breathtaking. I can even say, without hesitation, whether an acoustic guitar is strung with nylon or metal. Instruments such as piano, guitar, saxophone, trumpet and drums sound so real. And voices are so natural, so true. The dynamics are excellent. This is absolutely stunning.
The stereo image is superb: large and deep, very accurate and realistic.
This is by far the best amplifier I have ever heard. I am very proud and satisfied."

"I installed a pair of PAT-4006 output transformers in a Dynaco ST70 amp with a Curcio Audio Engineering (www.curcioaudio.com) driver and power supply board. The stock ST70 transformers are pretty good transformers, but the PAT-4006s transformed the amp into one of the best sounding amps I've heard to date. This is a must hear combination. "Absolutely fantastic! I couldn't believe in my ears when I started to hear a freshly developed SE amplifier (Svetlana 572-10 based) using your 3035 SE output transformer. I started slowly with a string quartet playing, but after a moment I changed for a full jazz band with an introduction played fortissimo on the timpani.
